En-Dangered Art Auction

En-Dangered Art Auction

EIGHT collective is pleased to host the online exhibition and silent art auction “en(DANGER)” organised by local artist and EIGHT member Karla Dickens.

To coincide the launch of Karla’s 18 meter Koala mural at Goonellabah in August, she has decided to organise a silent art auction to raise funds for the volunteers at the Koala hospital. Karla will be auctioning the original 3.6m art work for the mural ‘Dreaming of a Koala Haven’ (pictured left) and has asked fellow artists to dig deep and also donate a work responding to the theme for our furry little mates!

Since Karla began the mural project, the plight of the Koala has been uncannily prominent in the local and national media. Recently Koalas in Eastern Australia were added to the threatened species list and locally the Koala Management Plan, in development for 17 years, has been passed by the Council and has become a reality for those campaigning for the Koala populations in our local area. During the production of this it became apparent that the local Koala population needs to be protected, and the people who are fighting for them need support.

In response to this idea the Lismore Regional Gallery, Friends of the Koala and EIGHT collective and a generous group of artists are getting behind Karla and the Koalas to hold a silent art auction and online exhibition “enDANGER”. Half the proceeds of each artwork sold will be donated to the Friends of the Koalas, Lismore.
