EN(DANGER) silent art auction for the koalas
EIGHT collective is pleased to host the online exhibition and silent art auction “en(DANGER)” organised by local artist and EIGHT member Karla Dickens.

To coincide the launch of Karla’s 18 meter Koala mural at Goonellabah in August, she has decided to organise a silent art auction to raise funds for the volunteers at the Koala hospital. Karla will be auctioning the original 3.6m art work for the mural ‘Dreaming of a Koala Haven’ (pictured left) and has asked fellow artists to dig deep and also donate a work responding to the theme for our furry little mates!

Since Karla began the mural project, the plight of the Koala has been uncannily prominent in the local and national media. Recently Koalas in Eastern Australia were added to the threatened species list and locally the Koala Management Plan, in development for 17 years, has been passed by the Council and has become a reality for those campaigning for the Koala populations in our local area. During the production of this it became apparent that the local Koala population needs to be protected, and the people who are fighting for them need support.

In response to this idea the Lismore Regional Gallery, Friends of the Koala and EIGHT collective and a generous group of artists are getting behind Karla and the Koalas to hold a silent art auction and online exhibition “enDANGER”. Read more about Koalas, Karla Dickens, the Artists donating work and the en(DANGER) project here. Half the proceeds of each artwork sold will be donated to the Friends of the Koalas, Lismore.

Check back often in the next few weeks as we will be posting the images of artworks donated by the fabulously generous artists’ for viewing and the auction will be launched and live to bid by email at an upcoming event hosted by the Lismore Regional Gallery at the Lismore Art Space in August. This will be a great chance to pick up some unique works by a group of accomplished Australian artists and support a great cause at the same time.  Who doesn’t love a Koala!?
