Old Western Stores, Wellington
Exhibition Launch: 22 October, 11.30 – 1.30pm

At the Junction of Two Rivers presents the creative exchange of ideas between
seven artists and Wellington’s social, cultural and physical landscape.
Each of the artists has spent time exchanging ideas with the community and exploring
culturally important places, the Burrendong Botanic Garden and Arboretum, the Wellington
Caves and Oxley Museum; this exhibition is the outcome of these experiences.
Lismore-based Wiradjuri artist Karla Dickens has made new work about the Land Wars as
well as new photographic and sculpture series Exposed and Bush Cocky. Asher Milgate has
created a new video installation for this project which brings together different histories. They
have also collaborated on a site-specific work that responds to the important place Knuckey’s
Store held for many in the community before it was demolished over 10 years ago.

The exhibition also includes work by Raquel Ormella (Sydney), The Ronalds (Ganmain),
Liane Rossler (Sydney) and Simon Yates (Sydney). Curated by Holly Williams and Glenn Barkley
from The Curators’ Department, with Kent Buchanan from the Western Plains Cultural Centre.
Running from 22 October to 12 November 2016. Open daily during Artlands
and other days until 12 November. Please check the website for hours and
details of the evening bus tour from Dubbo on Friday 28 October.
