Appin Memorial

Appin Memorial

Description

In 2010 Aris Prabawa his wife Jade and Baby Jango along with myself shared a residence at Casula Power House for a week before our exhibitions were opened. It  just so happened the night of the opening was also the anniversary of the Appin Massacre which took place on April the 16th 1816, after listening to a local elder in Campbelltown the day before I felt a strong move to make a public acknowledgement of this dark cruel day in Australia’s history. Aris and I began painting and within a matter of an hour of so the tribute was complete.
